The Joint Task Force for Clinical Trial Competency (JTF) is an international team of investigators, educators and clinical research professionals that are committed to providing researchers with guidance and tools to ensure the professional competency of all members of the research team. The “wheel” diagram at left represents the JTF Competency Framework which consists of 8 Competency Domains. Clicking on each domain will show the specific competency statements which detail the core competencies required at the Basic, Skilled and Expert levels, to conduct safe, ethical and effective clinical research.
The JTF Framework may be utilized to standardize role descriptions, to build effective education and training programs, and to recognize the requirements for employment and upward mobility within the profession of clinical research.
The Joint Task Force for Clinical Trial Competency has developed the Harmonized Core Competency Framework and other resources to provide the clinical research community with practical and comprehensive guidance to develop a capable workforce and conduct high-quality clinical research.
We are hard at work on evolving the Harmonized Core Competency Framework to meet the needs of clinical researchers. We are also working to disseminate our work across the globe at conferences and in publications.
"For the first time, a universally applicable, globally relevant framework exists that identifies the competency domains and the associated cognitive skills necessary to conduct a high-quality, ethical, and safe clinical trial."
